Please accept my apology for writing this in English. I am a (mostly) fluent reader of French (along with Portuguese and Spanish) but my attempts to write it result in a great deal of confusion, so I write in English and hope that friendly members of forums I write on help me translate. Please feel free to respond in French as I will mostly, with a few humorous exceptions, be able to follow you.

The site (virdea.net/french) that you refer to is mine. I have spent a number of years collecting information on French arms, including having the privilege many years ago to interview people who fought in both the major world wars both for the French Army and for the U.S. Army in France. My relatives served in both wars and the last of them, an uncle which was severely injured at Vic sur Seille, recently passed on.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can provide any information or if you want to aid me in perfecting my own knowledge. My site is at best imperfect - the information in it comes from more than 300 books, 850 letters, hundreds of newspaper articles, nearly a hundred interviews, 12 visits to see French arms in U.S. museums, and a lot of time looking through U.S. archives for artifacts of French military arms making. The results are not perfect, but they get better each year as I learn something new or find out something quoted in a work I used is not itself perfect.

What you will need to do is go to this area of the forums (https://www.tircollection.com/f3-presentation-indispensable) and make a post of who you are, where you live, what you collect, etc. ... basically introducing yourself to all the members of the boards.
I also had to learn that it is polite in French language boards to introduce yourself to people so they can get to know who you are unlike gunboards.com where you can post in forums without doing such. I actually like the idea of this though, you get to know someone by this initial post, you can see what they are interested in :)
You will find that many members on the French forum here are also members on gunboards.com
I also have to get help in translation on posts and the members here are very helpful in doing this :)

Malheureusement mon français écrit est pauvre. Je peux aller où lecture ne prend qu'une seconde, mais je écrire très lentement et avec beaucoup d'erreurs, je suis toujours peur d'erreurs.
